UPDATE at 12:03 p.m. on Aug. 24 The "police action" that slowed traffic on Interstate 5 on Wednesday afternoon south of Albany was a search for human remains, according to the Oregon State Police. OPS released the following statement: "On Wednesday, August 23, 2023, at 10:20 A.M., the Oregon State Police responded to investigate the report of human remains discovered on the west side of the south bound lanes of Interstate 5, near milepost 224, in Linn County. Investigators spent several hours searching the area surrounding the discovery for any additional items or information that would aid in determining how the remains came to be at that location.
