A 75-year-old Albany man killed his longtime girlfriend before taking his own life Saturday, Sept. 30 Albany police responded to a welfare check at around 9:30 a.m. in the 1900 block of Washington Street Southwest, according to a news release from the agency. Officers arrived to the sounds of a disturbance and what they suspected were gunshots inside the residence, the release states, adding officers immediately made entry and found a man dead from an apparent gunshot wound.
